Somehow I manage to get into Final year of my degree (by
Grace of God, Examiner and my neibouring students in the exams). Now, begins
the next big step i.e. Placement Period, don’t know why, but I hate it (read on
and you’ll know why).
As you all know, I’m in GPMCE (Guru Premsukh Memorial
College of Engineering, in case you still don’t know please don’t Google it, it
wouldn’t help. Just to know that it’s some college in IP Univ, Delhi), which
used to be a great college some 6-7 years back, but now nothing can be said
about it.
The semester begins with everybody having big ambitions of
getting placed in Microsoft (i.e 16 lac package), Google (Huge Package too) and
other Industry A's (read $$$). Nobody is actually interested in companies like
Infosys and TCS and claim, they’ll not go to these companies (even if got
selected), as they are mass recruiters and there is no scope in them (read they
didn’t pay up to their expectations).
Everybody is expecting a package of 5-6 Lac at least, but as
the time passes (as it is already October), everybody came to realize that 3.5
Lac is a very Good package (indeed), even 2.8 - 3 Lac is also a good package
and they will go for it (read Aukad yaad aa gayi), still no company is interested
in paying, even that much to them.
Now for further reference, let me Describe out T&P cell
(Training and Placement). We have 3 characters in out T&P cell
1) T&P Head Miss Just Appointed (Only god know
how is she planning to get us placed)
2) T&P Assistant 1,Mr. Chasme Baddur (He’s the
one who understands our position and consistently console us)
3) T&P Assistant 2, Mr. Liar (He’s a glib liar,
and can lie on your face)
The T&P cell’s duty is to get the student placed (read
make them believe that they’ll place them).The semester begins with T&P
announcing that TCS is Coming to organize a seminar to hire students, which
turns out to be a fake TCS (Read 1-1.5 lac package), all the students were is
great shock and decided that they’ll die but wouldn’t join at that package.
The time passes the depressed students knock the door of the
Mr. Just Appointed Director, even he wasn’t able to help us out and need other
HODs to help him out, in facing us. Our problem remains as it’s.
Finally, the relief wave arrives when 2 companies i.e. The
Google & NGT (turns out to be Mimso or what even ,I don’t know what.)
arrives in GPMCE, but only god knows that it was a joke our face by our very
own T&P. it turn out to be a fake Google (read 2 lac package) and NGT or
Mimso or what ever (read 1.5 lac package). Our dreams were shattered, hopes all
lost.
And cherry on top out friends on other colleges keeps
getting placed. Still I’m keeping my hopes up for any true recruiter(That’ll
recruit me). Till then wish me luck and we’ll meet soon.
